in Washington DC for
National Law Enforcement Memorial Week
10-15 May 1998

The Partners in Safety program was officially closed on 14 May 1998, having provided over 5,500 donated ballistic vests to unarmed UK officers. Many officers, support staff and ordinary citizens around the world played their part in this outstanding example of what can be achieved by the unique bond which exists between officers worldwide. Some of those people met for the first time, shared the success of their efforts, and put faces to the e-mail addresses through which this amazing program has been run.

The venue for this gathering was Washington DC during Law Enforcement Memorial Week, held between 10th - 15th May 1998. We gathered there to celebrate the success of Partners in Safety and at the same time to remember that which makes such things necessary - the constant and cruel sacrifice which our police family makes on behalf of society worldwide. You can see and hear what happened by choosing a link from below. Speakers included Dennis Cobb, Janet Reno, Al Gore, and Jim McNulty Jnr!
